Why I Started Ink & Iron: Writing, Fitness, and the Strength to Build Both
How the discipline of writing and fitness shaped my mindset, built resilience, and forged a path to growth—in and out of the gym.
I’ve always lived in two worlds.
Growing up, I was an athlete. Sports were my life, and I thrived on competition, and had the desire to push myself further. But while I spent my days training, my nights were different—I was buried in books. I loved reading, loved getting lost in words, and eventually, loved writing my own.
Writing became more than just a hobby. It was my way to express myself through some difficult times growing up, to put my thoughts into words when I couldn’t say them out loud. When life felt overwhelming, writing was my escape, especially when there was a time I couldn’t enjoy the peace of being on the field or in the gym. It gave me clarity, just like training gave me an outlet for my energy.
For a long time, I thought I had to choose between the two. Be the athlete or be the writer. But over time, I realized these passions weren’t opposites—they were connected.
Both demand consistency—show up, put in the reps, and improve over time (often longer than you expect). Both require mental toughness—pushing through resistance, whether it’s writer’s block or a heavy set under the bar. And both teach you that progress is earned, never given.
That’s why I created Ink & Iron—a space where words and weights collide. A place to explore how training the body sharpens the mind, how writing builds resilience, and how discipline in one fuels success in the other.
If you lift, write, or simply want to build strength in every sense of the word, you’re in the right place.
Welcome to Ink & Iron—let’s build something great, rep by rep, word by word.
